Running

Sunrise at Heartland 100 (2010)
Three years ago, I tried - and fried - at my first 100 mile effort.  It was the Heartland 100 in eastern Kansas.  Having never run further than 50K previously, I naively jumped into something I was not at all prepared to face.  After 58 miles, I threw in the towel.

Next weekend, I'll be there again - only this time, I'll be pacing a friend, Bob Murphy, as he takes on his second Heartland 100.  Last year, I paced a friend to his first 100 mile finish at Heartland and learned a great deal about the fine art of crewing/pacing a 100 mile effort.  This year, I get to apply what I've learned - from two prior personal efforts at Heartland and one prior pacing effort - to put it all to use and help Bob realize a sub-24 hour finish.
